Since I am now a media daaaahling, I am ‘required’ (ie me likey the cinema) to keep on top of the current releases. I know this is a little late as most of these have been out for a loooong time, but I only got round to seeing Hairspray tonight. Anyhoo, I’m scribbling out some notes at the moment and figured I’d share my thoughts and try to convince people to get out there and experience the fun of the cinema
- The biggest grossing films of the past few weeks (in the UK):
Transformers (the official summer hit)
Rating: 4/10
Summary: In short (because I hated it very much), machines turn into robots which leads onto a war of bad robots v good robots, zzzzz.
Good bits: CGI effects were amazing
Bad bits: Lead male, lead female, weak middle, length, bad story in general!
The Simpsons (knocked off the top spot after only one week)
Rating: 7/10
Summary: Homer is responsible for the planned destruction of the whole of Springfield. Can he save the day…?
Good bits: A must see purely because it’s The Simpsons!
Bad bits: Really NO need to show Bart’s ‘doodle’, doesn’t have the same appeal of the 20minute episodes. Also, it’s about 7 years too late, it should have been released when The Simpsons was at the height of its popularity.
Die Hard 4.0: Live free or die hard
Rating: 8/10
Summary: Computer hackers are planning on starving the world of all it’s resources by taking control of everything. Cue Detective McClane!
Good bits: Don’t need to have any knowledge of the other films, amazing special effects, fanastic explosions, strong storyline
Bad bits: Typical outcome (but even so still makes a half decent film!)
Hairspray
Rating: 9/10
Summary: ‘Larger than life’ schoolgirl wants to find fame in prejudiced 60’s Baltimore…and get the attention of the school heart throb!
Good bits: JAMES MARSDEN!! The dance routines are FAB, John Travolta and Christopher Walken are brilliant as a married couple, fun quirky film that just makes you feel happy inside! Also, brilliant cast.
Bad bits: Maybe too much singing (but duh, it’s a musical!), lead female could have been a little more polished
Ok that’s my Jonathon Ross bit over with for now! In short, go see Hairspray and Die Hard, Die Hard MUST be seen at the cinema!! I was expecting to hate it but really enjoyed it, it wouldn’t have been the same to watch it on TV.
That’s all from me, sharing another part of my world with all you lovely people. Wow I’m so career minded already ![]()
Love Rachy
